✈️ Dubai has strict rules around certain medications. Even over-the-counter meds or prescriptions that are legal in the UK might be banned or restricted in the UAE.
💊 Here’s what to do:
- Check the UAE’s controlled medicine list – this includes many common mental health, ADHD, and pain medications.
- Get a doctor’s letter — signed, dated, with full diagnosis and dosage details.
- Carry your prescription in original packaging
- Apply for pre-approval (if needed) — via the UAE Ministry of Health’s online portal (some meds require clearance).
- Pack meds in hand luggage — with documentation just in case.
💡 If in doubt — check. It’s better to be overprepared than risk having essential meds confiscated or being stopped at customs.
✈️ I’m travelling with inhalers, anxiety, ADHD, pain and blood pressures medications as well as a CAP machine and insulin injections so I’ll be sharing how I navigate the airport and flight prep with this in mind. Let me know if this is something you’d like more content on 💼🧠
